For ease and convenience of travel, exploring Las Alpujarras and visits to Granada and the coast, car hire is the best option.
The big names Avis and Hertz may or may not be more expensive than other now established companies such as Europcar, Sixt, GoldCar.

There is free parking in Capileira near the cottage.
Not everyone wants to hire a car and although the bus service to Las Alpujarras is strictly limited, Capileira is one of the few small villages in Andalucia with a regular service from Granada every day of the week.
There are just three buses a day (including Sundays) and here are the latest times. You can book either online with www.alsa.es, at Granada bus station, or pay on the bus itself.
For buses from Malaga to Granada: a few go directly from the Airport (leaving opposite Arrivals as you come out) and more from Malaga bus station (estación de autobuses).
